Why March is the Best Month for your Wellness Goals

Let’s just come right out and say it: March can be a bit of an awkward transition month. While we’re definitely making our way out of the Netflix burrito blanket that is winter hibernation, it’s also not quiiiiite spring-y enough to get all excited and bust out that jean jacket.
But fear not: All is definitely not lost. While March may seem a little bit blah on the surface, we’re convinced it can actually be one of the best months to work toward your health and wellness goals. Think about it: You don’t have any holiday parties to go to anymore (that was so December), you’re not surrounded by people going so hard on their New Year’s resolutions that it actually makes you want to run in the opposite direction (so January), you’re not making exerdates left and right just to ensure that you’ll actually leave the cocoon that is your couch (so February), and park and rooftop BBQ season is not yet here to distract you from your wellness goals (so spring). Yes, you are officially in the No Man’s Land of months, a time when you can focus on yourself in whatever way that appeals to you the most. Think of it as the month of you, the perfect opportunity to spring clean your body and mind—so that by the time actual spring rolls around, you’ll be ready.
Perhaps you take this freebie month to engage in a March Madness fitness challenge, where you promise yourself that you’ll exercise for 20 of the 31 days, or something like that. Or maybe you make this your month of meditation, during which you vow to actually use your Headspace app for more than just the trial session. Or perhaps you take a page out of Marie Kondo’s book and spring clean the hell out of your personal space, tossing out whatever doesn’t ~spark joy~ and leaving room for only the good stuff.
The point is that March doesn’t have to be an awkward transition month—it can actually be an amazingly transformative month, instead. And don’t forget: When you make the time to clean yourself up now, you’ll feel even better down the line…just in time for summer.
